Immersed in breathtaking wilderness, the Demspter Highways makes its way through the land the Gwich'in, one of the NWT’s First Nations. Driving beyond the Gwich'in Settlement Area and out towards the Beaufort Sea, you will enter the traditional land of the Inuvialuit, the Inuit of the Western Arctic. The picturesque, vibrant, and multicultural communities along the Dempster Highway are now home not only to the Gwich'in, Inuvialuit, and Métis people, but also to residents from a wide variety of countries.
